It's the equinox, friends! Are we ready for the shift? I am and sort of not. Fall is my favorite season for many reasons, and the equinox marks the start of it. So that's great. The darker mornings are a bit harder for me to get going, but the early evenings are the BEST! My husband doesn't understand me when I say that it should always be dark by 9 pm. Who is with me?? I love the way God designed the earth with these built-in rhythms. The darker and cooler season calls for cozy sweaters, fires, hot drinks, and rest. The autumn season is like the evening time in a day. Work starts to cease, and rest makes its way in. It's a reminder that we aren't meant to be in constant overdrive. There is a time for every season under the sun. Including restful seasons. I love how seasons are layered, too. A day is like a season (morning is spring, midday is summer, evening is fall, night is winter). A month goes through a season; think about how our energy changes with the moon phases (women can especially feel this). A year goes through seasons just like we are experiencing now. And we have seasons of life that can last any amount of time, maybe even years (work, parenting, retirement, life stages, etc.). When the year marks a seasonal shift, I love to do some reflecting. Here are a few journal prompts that might get you curious: What are you being called to in this season? What does a season of rest look like to you?
